Deputy Prime Minister Zahid welcomes modest budget boost for rural development ministry
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he is pleased with the latest budget allocation for the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, despite its modest increase.
At the 2027 Budget announcement, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi voiced satisfaction with the allocation granted to the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, noting that the increase was relatively small. He said the government understands the fiscal constraints and remains committed to rural development. Zahid stressed that the ministry will concentrate on delivering programmes that generate measurable benefits for rural populations, with particular attention to Orang Asli projects and infrastructure connectivity.
Additional budget lines will back the halal industry, small-business entrepreneurship, and measures to ease the financial burden on middle-income families. He described the budget as a balanced plan that aligns development goals with the nation's economic realities.
