Derby gang sentenced for brutal knife attack that killed 21-year-old Dale Martin
Six men received prison terms for the June 2025 murder of Dale Martin in Derby, where a masked group ambushed and stabbed him to death.
On June 15, 2025, 21-year-old Dale Martin was seized from his Renault Megane on Stenson Road in Derby and brutally stabbed by a group of masked men armed with knives, swords and machetes. CCTV footage recorded the gang surrounding him, forming a barricade with electric bikes and repeatedly shouting “kill him”. The attack, described by Derbyshire Police as a sustained, pre-meditated assault, ended with Martin’s death.
At a Thursday hearing, six men were found guilty: Jayden Mannion-Roberts received a life term with a 27-year minimum, while Ki Grant-Finlayson, Keenan Hamblett, Shaylon McCalla, Kayin Holmes and Kelci Thompson received sentences from 10 to 18 years. Detective Sergeant Chris Wright said the verdict brings the perpetrators to justice, though it cannot erase the trauma for Martin’s family.
