Designers Guild enters administration, 93 jobs at risk

Designers Guild Limited, a British homeware company established in 1970 and known for luxury fabrics and accessories, announced it has entered administration and will stop trading. Founder Tricia Guild and chief executive Simon Jeffreys said the decision follows a tough market and increasing expenses, and they conveyed “great” sadness at the brand’s demise. Administrators Rick Harrison and Howard Smith of Interpath were appointed on September 24 to oversee the winding-down process.

The closure puts 93 positions at risk, with most staff expected to be made redundant while a small team will remain to assist the administrators. The move comes 16 months after Guild re-licensed the brand from Dunelm. The company’s legacy as a respected name in interior design was highlighted by the administrators.
