Detroit Lions reshuffle roster, adding veteran RB and speedy CB amid injuries
The Lions waived running back Kye Robichaux and safety Loren Strickland with injury designations and signed veteran running back Trayveon Williams and cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe.
Detroit's training camp roster underwent a quick overhaul as the Lions placed rookie running back Kye Robichaux on waivers with an injury tag following a foot injury that may involve a broken bone. Safety Loren Strickland, who was battling for playing time behind a veteran-heavy secondary, was also waived with an injury designation. To replace them, the Lions signed veteran running back Trayveon Williams, a player with 75 regular-season appearances who can contribute on offense and special teams while other backs recover.
They also added 26-year-old cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe, an undrafted former Kansas City Chiefs player praised for his 4.38-second 40-yard dash and one outlet upside. Both signings give the Lions healthy bodies for the closing stretch of camp and a chance to earn roster spots through practice and special-teams contributions.
Why it matters
Injuries forced Detroit to adjust its roster, bringing in experienced and one outlet players to stay competitive in training camp.
