DHS posts AI-generated anti-immigrant ad targeting Indian-American truck driver
The Department of Homeland Security shared an AI-generated social-media poster that singled out an Indian-American truck driver named “Mr Singh,” prompting accusations of racial profiling.
A social-media post from the Department of Homeland Security used AI to create a Transformers-themed poster that addressed an Indian-American truck driver as “Mr Singh,” urging him to leave U.S. roads. The image was accompanied by a video that listed five drivers—Harjinder Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Bekzhan Beishekeev, Akhror Bozorov and Jasveer Singh—who have been linked to crashes or other crimes. Critics, including one outlet American Foundation and the Sikh Coalition, described the campaign as racist profiling and urged a formal probe, tagging officials such as Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K Dhillon and FBI Director Kash Patel.
The DHS framed the effort as part of its CBP Home initiative, which pays up to $2,600 to undocumented migrants who voluntarily depart the country. The controversy highlights tensions over immigration enforcement and the use of provocative imagery in government messaging.
