Dick's Sporting Goods to launch high-end sports-card sections in select stores

Dick's Sporting Goods announced plans to add Collectors Clubhouse areas to its House of Sports locations, featuring premium sports cards to draw serious collectors.

Dick's Sporting Goods is expanding its in-store experience by creating Collectors Clubhouse sections inside its House of Sports locations, which combine sports-related activities like batting cages, golf simulators and rock-climbing walls. Unlike a simple display shelf, these clubhouses will showcase high-value cards aimed at serious collectors. The company has already invested in top-tier memorabilia, purchasing a Paul Skenes 2024 Topps Chrome Update MLB Debut Patch autographed rookie card for $1.11 million.

Staff members attended the National Sports Collectors Convention, where they bought additional collectible cards directly from the show floor. The move signals Dick's intent to tap into the rapidly growing sports-card market and diversify its retail offering.

Why it matters

The initiative shows a major retailer entering the booming sports-card market, potentially reshaping how collectors shop.
