Discrepancies emerge in crowd counts across French cities during protests
Police and union estimates of demonstrators varied widely in several French cities, with the CGT reporting higher numbers than official sources.
In Marseille, the prefecture counted 17,000 participants while the CGT claimed about 50,000. Lyon's prefecture reported 10,000 attendees. Bordeaux's officials gave a provisional figure of 15,500, contrasted with the union's 60,000. Toulouse saw 26,500 counted by authorities versus 80,000 claimed by the CGT. Smaller cities also showed gaps, with Rennes at 11,500 and Strasbourg at 6,600 according to officials, while the CGT cited 15,000 there.
