Disha Salian's father issues Rs 500 crore defamation notice to Aaditya Thackeray and Anil Deshmukh

Satish Salian, whose daughter Disha Salian died in June 2020, has dispatched a defamation notice to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, demanding Rs 500 crore in damages, a retraction and an apology for their statements linking him to the death. The notice stipulates a seven-day deadline for compliance. Thackeray earlier asserted on X that he never met Disha Salian and that attempts to associate his name with the case are part of a six-year-long political smear campaign.

The notice arrives shortly after the Central Bureau of Investigation filed an FIR, as directed by the Bombay High Court, naming Thackeray, Rohan Roy, Rhea Chakraborty, Param Bir Singh, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, DCP Vishal Thakur and several police and forensic officials. The FIR expands the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Salian's fall from a building, which was initially recorded as an accidental death. The legal move underscores the family's effort to challenge the political narrative surrounding the case.
