Disney and Epic Games Bridge Star Wars Ride to New Fortnite Quest

Disney and Epic Games unveiled a new experience that links the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride with a Fortnite adventure, rewarding riders with a special outfit.

Disney and Epic Games announced a collaborative project that ties the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction to a bespoke Fortnite adventure named Smugglers Gambit. Visitors waiting in line at the Orlando or Anaheim parks can accept a mission; those who complete it earn a Forsworn Trooper Outfit for use in Fortnite. The ride’s cockpit visuals, created with Epic’s Unreal Engine, are repurposed as assets within the game.

Sean Shoptaw, executive vice president of Disney Games and Digital Entertainment, described the effort as the inaugural extension of a park experience into a virtual environment. Adam Sussman, president of Epic Games, said the venture showcases how storytellers can blend physical and digital worlds. The collaboration builds on prior Fortnite crossovers but marks the first real-world integration of Disney park magic into a video game.

Why it matters

It shows how major entertainment brands are merging physical attractions with online gaming, creating new cross-platform experiences.
