Disney+ and Pokémon Company seal worldwide deal, debut stop-motion series in 2027

Disney+ and The Pokémon Company International have finalized a worldwide distribution pact that will see new Pokémon content delivered across Disney's streaming and linear platforms. The deal debuted with "Pokémon the Series: The Beginning," which began airing on Disney XD earlier this month and is now available on Disney+ in the U.S. and several other regions. Under the agreement, Aardman will produce a stop-motion series titled "Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu," slated for a 2027 release on Disney XD and Disney+ only.

The series follows the titular characters on a quest through the Galar Region, blending humor and heroism. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said the collaboration offers a fresh, playful take on the beloved franchise, while Aardman’s Phil Rynda noted the immersive world-building that will engage audiences. Further details about the partnership are expected to be announced later.
