Disney+ announces ads will appear in all subscription tiers
Disney+ told subscribers that advertising may be shown across every plan, including those that currently pay extra to avoid ads.
Disney+ sent a notice to its members indicating that advertising will be permitted in every subscription category, from the Premium offering at 159 kr per month to the Standard plan at 109 kr and the ad-supported option at 69 kr. The email clarifies that the service can include marketing content, sponsorships and commercials before or after playback, as well as during live or on-demand events and third-party content. Although the lowest-price tier still markets a reduced fee in exchange for ad exposure, the company now states that even users who pay more to avoid ads may see limited promotional material.
Information on the website confirms that Standard and Premium tiers can still feature brief ads or Disney-related marketing. Only accounts with "junior mode" activated are guaranteed an entirely ad-free experience, but they are restricted to children’s programming.
Why it matters
Subscribers may face unexpected ads even on higher-priced plans, affecting user experience and perceived value.
