Disney+ Announces Busan Debut and November Streaming Launch for Korean Drama "The Remarried Empress"

Disney+ has set a Nov. 4 premiere for The Remarried Empress, a lavish Korean fantasy-romance series featuring Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young. The ten-part drama will first appear at the Busan International Film Festival in early October, where three episodes totaling 151 minutes will be screened in the festival’s On Screen showcase. After the festival, the streaming launch will roll out four episodes on Nov. 4, with two additional episodes released each Wednesday through the Nov. 25 finale.

Based on the widely read Naver Webtoon, the series follows Empress Navier as she navigates a crumbling marriage and a political bargain to wed a rival crown prince. Disney touts the project as its most expensive Korean drama to date, shot across European sites and detailed palace sets under the direction of Cho Su-won, with scripts by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choong-yeol. The rollout follows a new teaser and character artwork unveiled earlier this week.
