Disney Announces New Kingdom Hearts Anime Series for Disney+ and Disney Channel
Disney revealed that a brand-new Kingdom Hearts anime will debut on Disney+ and Disney Channel, featuring an original storyline created with series creator Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix.
At the latest D23 fan gathering, Disney confirmed that a new Kingdom Hearts anime is on its way to Disney+ and Disney Channel. The show promises an original plot that expands the existing lore while celebrating the beloved characters from the video-game series. A teaser revealed the silhouette of a keyblade-wielding character, though fans are uncertain whether it is the series protagonist Sora.
Disney emphasized that the production is being handled in partnership with Tetsuya Nomura, the director and character designer behind the games, and the creative staff at Square Enix. In addition to the anime announcement, Disney offered a glimpse of Kingdom Hearts IV, which will feature a world based on Pixar’s Coco and is scheduled for a late-2027 launch. The upcoming anime aims to blend Disney’s storytelling with the franchise’s signature action-adventure elements.
