Disney's 'The Greatest Showman' Musical to Open at London's Drury Lane in Spring 2027

Disney Theatrical Group announced that its stage adaptation of “The Greatest Showman” will debut at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in spring 2027, headlined by Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks.

Disney Theatrical Group confirmed that its stage version of “The Greatest Showman” will open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London’s West End in spring 2027 after a sold-out run at the Bristol Hippodrome. Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks have been cast as P.T. Barnum and Charity Barnum, supported by Ben Joyce, Vajèn van den Bosch and Malinda Parris.

The show incorporates the film’s hit numbers by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul alongside new compositions, with Tim Federle writing the book and two-time Tony winner Casey Nicholaw directing and choreographing. Disney executives Anne Quart and Andrew Flatt described the piece as a joyous tribute to dreamers and outsiders, marking the first stage adaptation of a 20th Century Studios property. The production also features Alex Lacamoire on music supervision, David Korins on scenic design, Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser on costumes, Natasha Katz on lighting, and Peter Hylenski on sound. It continues Disney’s partnership with LW Theatres, which currently stages the company’s “Hercules” production.

Why it matters

The musical brings a popular film to London's West End, expanding Disney's live-theatre offerings and creating new jobs.
