Disney+ to add Channel 4’s linear and on-demand content in UK and Ireland
Disney+ announced a partnership with Channel 4 that will bring the broadcaster’s linear HD channel and on-demand library to the streaming service in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Disney+ confirmed a landmark partnership with Channel 4 that will make the UK network’s linear HD channel and extensive on-demand catalogue available to Disney+ subscribers in the United Kingdom and Ireland beginning in early 2027. A Channel 4-branded hub will host the service, delivering both the live channel and hundreds of hours of existing programming without additional fees. New Channel 4 series, such as drama and comedy titles, will be added to Disney+ on the same day they launch on the broadcaster.
The collaboration follows several other content deals Disney+ has signed worldwide to strengthen its local programming slate. Channel 4 chief executive Priya Dogra said the partnership will extend the reach of the broadcaster’s popular shows, while Disney Entertainment’s Adam Smith highlighted the strategic importance of one outlet broadcaster partnerships for the streaming platform.
Why it matters
The deal expands Disney+ subscribers' access to UK-based TV content, enhancing choice and competition in the streaming market.
