Disney+ to Stream 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' Starting September 2

Jon Favreau’s Star Wars adventure, featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu, will arrive on Disney+ on September 2 following a box-office run that generated $345 million worldwide, the smallest total for a live-action Star Wars title. The plot has Din Djarin and his apprentice recruited by Colonel Ward to retrieve Rotta the Hutt, the heir to Jabba, in order to locate an Imperial leader. The film opened on May 22, cost $165 million to make, and earned $102 million during its Memorial Day weekend.

Pedro Pascal provides the voice for the titular bounty hunter, while stunt performers Lateef Crowder and Brendan Wayne handle most physical work. The ensemble also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and a brief appearance by Martin Scorsese, who previously appeared in “Solo.” Dave Filoni co-wrote the script and was promoted to president of Lucasfilm after Kathleen Kennedy’s departure.
