Disqualified driver pleads guilty to causing death of ex-girlfriend in NSW crash
A 31-year-old Vanuatu farm worker admitted to aggravated dangerous driving after a drunken crash killed his former partner near Orange, NSW.
Rolong Stanley, a 31-year-old seasonal farm worker from Vanuatu, has entered a guilty plea to aggravated dangerous driving causing death after a drunken collision killed his former girlfriend, Justine Hammond, near Orange, NSW. The crash happened on February 9, 2025, when Stanley’s ute spun on a bend of Lake Canobolas Road and struck a tree, causing catastrophic damage. At the time, Stanley was a disqualified driver, subject to an Intensive Correction Order that barred alcohol consumption, and a final apprehended domestic violence order required him to remain 500 m away from Hammond.
He and Hammond had been drinking cask wine in his vehicle shortly before the incident. The court dismissed charges of breaching the AVO, negligent driving and high-range drink driving in exchange for the guilty plea, and sentencing is set for September 29.
