DKU orders secretary to file police report over alleged plot to dethrone Negeri Sembilan ruler

During a special session, the DKU resolved that its secretary should submit a police complaint concerning six individuals who signed a 5 September 2026 statement seeking to depose Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz. The DKU argued that four of those signatories lacked the positions they claimed, that the declaration violated Article X(1) of the 1959 State Constitution, and that issuing directives to state officers without legitimate authority constituted treason under adat and statutory law.

The council emphasized that Tuanku Muhriz remains the lawful ruler, as no valid removal process has occurred. Separately, the DKU dismissed proposals to create a Mediation Committee for adat issues, stating that such functions are already assigned to it under Article XVI of the same constitution and cannot be delegated. The state executive, led by Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim, reaffirmed full support for Tuanku Muhriz, while Ismail also reported filing a police complaint after claiming he signed a proclamation to remove the ruler under duress. Lawyers for the four claimants contested Ismail's duress allegation.
