DNB secures RM5.2 billion Islamic financing to fund Malaysia’s next 5G phase

Digital Nasional Bhd completed a RM5.2 billion syndicated Islamic term financing, bolstering its balance sheet and paving the way for a shift in ownership.

Digital Nasional Bhd announced the successful completion of a RM5.2 billion syndicated Islamic term financing, a key milestone as Malaysia moves into the next phase of its dual 5G network framework. The capital injection enhances DNB’s long-term financial stability and enables the anticipated withdrawal of MOF Inc. from ordinary shareholding. Ownership is slated to transition to equal portions held by the three mobile network operator shareholders—CelcomDigi (via Infranation Sdn Bhd), Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd and YTL Power International Bhd—expected in early fourth quarter 2026.

MOF Inc. will retain a special share to safeguard national interests and maintain oversight of strategic matters. This restructuring aims to support the rollout and expansion of 5G services across the country.
