Documentary Follows American Doctors Volunteering in Gaza Amid Ongoing Hospital Bombardments

A new documentary titled "American Doctor" follows three U.S. physicians working in Gaza hospitals while Israeli attacks continue to endanger medical staff.

"American Doctor" documents the efforts of three American physicians who travel to Gaza to assist in hospitals that remain functional under relentless Israeli bombardment. Palestinian officials report that roughly 1,700 medical workers have been killed since the conflict began in October 2023. The documentary centers on trauma surgeon Dr. Feroze Sidhwa and emergency doctor Dr. Thaer Ahmad, who is of Palestinian-American heritage, showing their daily challenges.

Director Poh Si Teng explains that her profound sorrow over the war, including attacks on former one outlet colleagues, motivated the film. She hopes the movie will raise awareness in the United States about the plight of Palestinian health services. Interviews with the doctors provide personal perspectives on treating the wounded amid constant danger.
