Documentary team granted access to courtroom video from Breivik trial
A Norwegian documentary producer has received permission to use a video recording of a witness testimony from the Breivik trial.
For the first time, a video record of a witness statement from the Breivik trial has been released for documentary use. Fenris Film, led by producer Tore Buvarp, obtained the footage after three rounds of legal review. The original recording was made by NRK on behalf of the court administration and was intended to remain sealed in the National Archives for six decades.
The witness who testified has agreed to allow the clip in the documentary, which will examine the shift in public debate following the attacks. Director Aslaug Holm will helm the project, with a theatrical premiere planned for 2028. The filmmakers stress that visual material adds a powerful dimension beyond written accounts.
Why it matters
The release lets the public see courtroom testimony, deepening understanding of a pivotal terrorism case.
