Rory Kennedy’s upcoming documentary “The Trial of Alec Baldwin” has unveiled its first trailer, offering a glimpse into the actor’s experience after the 2021 on-set shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The film tracks Baldwin’s journey from the immediate shock of the accident through the ensuing media frenzy over his responsibility and public persona. After initial hesitation, Baldwin consented to give Kennedy unrestricted access to his daily life and the legal process, allowing the crew to film throughout 2023 and during his July 2024 trial, despite the removal of two involuntary-manslaughter charges by Santa Fe County prosecutors.
Produced by Kennedy, Mark Bailey and Julia Marchesi, the project features a large team of executive producers. It is slated for a North American theatrical release beginning Oct. 16 and will premiere at the 2025 DOC NYC film festival.
