Dodger Stadium's iconic sign damaged after early-morning car crash

A vehicle collided with the historic sign at Dodger Stadium early Sunday, toppling a support post and dislodging the letter “U”. No injuries were reported.

At approximately 3:02 a.m. on Sunday, a driver lost control while exiting a nearby freeway and hit a gate at Dodger Stadium, then barreled into the iconic sign’s support structure. The impact ripped out an entire post and caused the letter “U” to fall from the board, while the BMW involved was severely mangled. Los Angeles police confirmed that no one sustained injuries and that the driver provided information to on-site security before departing.

In the hours following the incident, stadium staff dismantled the damaged sign, and construction equipment was seen on the site as repairs began. The Dodgers later played a game that afternoon, losing to the Brewers, and will travel for a three-game series before returning home later in the week.
