Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani Shows No Signs of Injury After Late-Game Limp

Shohei Ohtani appeared to limp after a groundout in the seventh inning against Atlanta, but continued playing and finished the game without issue, according to manager Dave Roberts.

In the Dodgers' contest against the Atlanta Braves on August 25, Shohei Ohtani was seen moving cautiously to the dugout after grounding out in the seventh inning, leading to worries about a leg issue. Despite the apparent limp, he remained in the game and later produced a triple in the top of the ninth, though he was stranded on base. Manager Dave Roberts observed that Ohtani ran normally to third base and appeared fine, easing concerns for the time being.

The player has a history of left-knee problems this season, which caused him to miss two games and limited his pitching workload. Roberts confirmed that Ohtani will participate in a bullpen session on Wednesday or Thursday, with the possibility of a live batting practice still under discussion. If the session goes well, Ohtani is expected to start on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers and aim for a five-inning, 80-pitch outing to build postseason stamina.

Why it matters

Ohtani's health directly impacts the Dodgers' pitching rotation and postseason chances.
