Dolby Appoints Former Meta, Amazon and Xbox Executive Marc Whitten as CEO

Dolby Laboratories has selected Marc Whitten, a veteran of Meta, Amazon and Microsoft’s Xbox, to become its new president and chief executive, taking over from Kevin Yeaman, who is stepping down after a 17-year tenure. The board highlighted Whitten’s blend of product vision, technical expertise and leadership experience as key to guiding Dolby’s future. In addition to the CEO role, Whitten will serve on Dolby’s board of directors, while Yeaman will stay on as an advisor.

Whitten’s background includes leading robotics at Meta, overseeing entertainment devices at Amazon, and serving as corporate vice president and chief product officer for Xbox, among other senior roles. He expressed enthusiasm for building on Dolby’s legacy as content, platforms and technologies evolve. Dolby’s chairman praised Yeaman’s contributions in expanding the company’s immersive audio and visual offerings.
