Donald Trump's Ireland visit triggers massive security deployment and widespread road closures

Air Force One landed at Dublin Airport around 8 am, where Donald Trump was received by Tánaiste Simon Harris before proceeding in a motorcade to Phoenix Park. There he met President Catherine Connolly for a roughly 30-minute encounter, followed by a bilateral session with Taoiseach Micheál Martin at Farmleigh. The visit, centered on the Amgen Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg, involves a 3,000-strong Irish security contingent alongside about 1,000 U.S. personnel, and is classified as an “extraordinary event” by Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly.

Road closures affect the M50 and the entire Phoenix Park area from the morning until early evening, with additional traffic delays expected in West Clare later in the day. After a private gathering at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence, Trump will fly to Shannon and then be ferried by helicopter to his resort, where he will award the tournament winner alongside Micheál Martin on Sunday night. Protests organized by several opposition parties are planned in Dublin and Clare throughout the weekend.
