Donzelli claims the left fears street protests and relies on hidden amendments

Giovanni Donzelli, who heads the organisational side of Fratelli d'Italia, told reporters that the left deliberately shuns street activism and resorts to hidden parliamentary tricks to undermine reforms. He maintained that the coalition’s legislation was sound, enhanced by preferential voting, and that a Pd amendment would never have passed because parliamentarians would have rejected it. Donzelli criticised the left’s fear of direct voter contact, portraying them as elite “radical chic” figures.

He affirmed the government’s continued agenda on immigration, security, legality and economic aid for families, especially the middle class, as the legislature draws to a close. The interview also touched on internal opposition dynamics, noting the absence of Renzi and questioning the relevance of potential rivals such as Ranucci. Donzelli concluded that Fratelli d'Italia will keep engaging with citizens while preparing internal party initiatives.
