DoorDash driver suffers severe head injuries after being assaulted with a bat
A DoorDash courier in Jacksonville, North Carolina, was badly injured when a man chased her and struck her with a baseball bat, and the suspect has been arrested.
While making a food delivery in Jacksonville, North Carolina, DoorDash courier Christen Phillips was targeted by a man who pursued her car after she honked his horn. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Stanley Shockley, jumped out of his vehicle at the drop-off point and struck Phillips in the head and face with a small wooden bat. The attack caused multiple skull fractures, brain bleeds, a fractured left cheekbone and fluid draining from her left ear.
Phillips managed to drive herself to a nearby hospital for treatment. Onslow County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested Shockley on Monday and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. Sheriff Chris Thomas thanked the public for tips that led to the arrest. DoorDash has been contacted for comment but has not responded.
