Dortmund shifts focus to Greek winger Giannis Konstantelias after El Mala deal collapses

Borussia Dortmund terminated negotiations for 1. FC Köln winger Said El Mala after the two sides could not settle on the guaranteed portion of the transfer fee, despite Dortmund's final offer near €50 million. The club promptly turned its attention to PAOK forward Giannis Konstantelias, a 23-year-old Greek international.

Konstantelias is scheduled to travel to Dortmund for a medical, after which he is expected to sign a four-year deal worth roughly €30 million, including possible bonuses. Dortmund values his ability to operate on the wing, in attacking midfield and centrally, citing his pace, dribbling and adaptability. He arrived at the start of the season having netted three goals and provided an assist in four Europa League qualifying matches, although PAOK were eliminated by Anderlecht. The transfer would also bring him together with compatriot Konstantinos Karetsas, who arrived from Genk in a similar €30 million deal and has spoken positively about his experience at the German club.
