DP World launches 222-hectare industrial park in Mombasa to boost African jobs

DP World signed a joint-venture with GulfCap Africa to develop a 222-hectare industrial park in Mombasa, Kenya, targeting more than 20,000 jobs.

The Dubai-based port operator formalised a partnership with Kenya’s GulfCap Africa in Nairobi to build a large special economic zone near Mombasa. Over 60 firms have shown interest in the project, which is expected to create upwards of 20,000 direct and indirect positions. DP World’s African footprint now spans at least nine territories, helping the company stay profitable despite disruptions from the Iran war.

Why it matters

The project could significantly boost employment and trade in Kenya and strengthen DP World's role in Africa.
