DP World Tour bars LIV Golf participants from 2027 membership
The DP World Tour announced it will refuse membership to any player who joins LIV Golf for the 2027 season, forcing players to choose between the two circuits.
The DP World Tour will deny membership to any golfer who participates in LIV Golf for the 2027 season, according to chief executive Guy Kinnings. He emphasized that tour rules protect its integrity and that players must choose a single circuit, as Ryder Cup eligibility hinges on DP World Tour membership. This policy follows the withdrawal of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund from LIV Golf and the league's Chapter 11 filing in the United States.
Despite the turmoil, LIV Golf has obtained a $300 million funding commitment from BC Partners Credit to support a possible 2027 relaunch. Players such as Jon Rahm, Tyrell Hatton, Victor Perez and Tom McKibbin, who currently enjoy conditional DP World Tour status, will be required to disclose their intended tour by the upcoming deadline.
Why it matters
The ruling forces top golfers to pick a tour, affecting Ryder Cup eligibility and the future of the LIV Golf venture.
