The National Institute of Public Health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo disclosed that the Ebola outbreak has reached 8,116 confirmed cases, adding more than 2,000 infections since the beginning of September. In the most recent 24-hour period, officials logged 49 new cases, 23 deaths and 18 recoveries. The overall death count has risen to 3,924. Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention Director-General Jean Kaseya cautioned that the disease remains a danger to adjacent nations as it spreads.
