Driver charged with murder after deliberately ramming crowd outside Nottingham bar

Duane Anthony pleaded not guilty to murder and five counts of attempted murder after a red Vauxhall Astra struck a group of pedestrians in Arnold, near Nottingham, killing footballer Tyler Fairman.

At approximately 1 am on May 9, a red Vauxhall Astra driven by Duane Anthony left a parked car, mounted the curb and ploughed into a group of pedestrians in Arnold, near Nottingham, after a verbal altercation outside Sasha’s Bar. CCTV footage showed the vehicle striking the crowd, causing Tyler Fairman of Woodthorpe Park Rangers to suffer a severe brain injury that led to his death on May 12, while four other adults sustained serious injuries.

Anthony has entered a not-guilty plea to murder, five counts of attempted murder, and driving while disqualified; his girlfriend Destiny Carrier faces a charge of assisting an offender. Prosecutors allege Anthony deliberately aimed the car at the group, fled the scene without checking on victims, and that Carrier later helped him evade police. The trial is ongoing at Nottingham Crown Court.
