Driver dies after vehicle bursts into flames on Forest Lawn Drive near Griffith Park

A single-vehicle crash on Forest Lawn Drive ignited a fire that killed the driver early Thursday, authorities said.

Around 2:24 a.m., a car on Forest Lawn Drive, just south of the 134 Freeway, erupted in flames, prompting a rapid response from firefighters. The blaze also set a nearby tree alight and damaged a traffic signal. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and no other victims were found despite a helicopter search. Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.
