Driver films and intervenes as suspect attacks man in Surrey park
A driver captured video of a knife-wielding suspect who rammed a victim's truck in Redwood Park and helped the victim until police arrived.
Just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, a confrontation unfolded in Redwood Park, South Surrey, when a suspect in a Jeep Wrangler struck a Ford pickup and chased the driver while brandishing a knife. a photographer at one outlet recorded the incident, reversing his vehicle and keeping the assailant at bay until officers reached the scene. Surrey Police Service staff sergeant Lindsey Houghton noted the rarity of such violent encounters in a park setting.
The alleged attacker, Richard Mark James Evoy, has been charged with assault with a weapon and criminal harassment. Authorities believe the victim and suspect are acquainted. The video evidence is expected to play a key role in the upcoming legal process.
