Driver pulls gun on another after repeated hard braking on M44 highway

A driver on the M44 near Békés stopped his car and pointed a rubber-bullet gun at another motorist after a dispute over repeated hard braking.

On a Friday evening along the M44 in Békés county, a traffic dispute escalated into a gun threat. Two drivers clashed after one vehicle performed two abrupt, unjustified brakes while overtaking, prompting the other driver to move into the outer lane. As they passed each other, a heated exchange ensued, and the driver who had been forced to decelerate—traveling with his spouse and two children—produced a rubber-bullet gun and pointed it at the other motorist.

The latter stopped at the nearest rest area and alerted authorities. Police responded promptly, apprehending the gun-wielding driver and transferring him to the Békéscsabai Rendőrkapitányság. No one was injured, though officials noted the potential danger. The driver faces criminal charges for reckless driving and a separate administrative case for driving without a valid licence, which had previously been revoked after accumulating eighteen penalty points.
