Driver tests positive for amphetamines after 10-ton lorry plows into 11 cars in Shah Alam
A 51-year-old lorry driver involved in a crash that struck 11 vehicles tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, leaving four people injured.
At a junction on Jalan Mokhtar Dahari in Shah Alam, a 10-tonne lorry descended from Puncak Perdana and allegedly lost braking control, crossing into the opposite lane and hitting 11 vehicles waiting at the lights. The 51-year-old driver was arrested after urine tests confirmed the presence of amphetamine and methamphetamine. Four people suffered injuries; a 58-year-old man sustained severe head trauma and is being treated in the red zone of Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah, while his wife and grandson, as well as a 29-year-old driver, remain in stable condition.
Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah confirmed the findings and noted the investigation proceeds under Section 44(1A)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact Inspector Abdul Nasser Peping.
