Driver unwittingly transports three mortar bombs hidden in trash bag
A Sepang lorry driver discovered three mortar bombs inside a heavy red plastic bag he had collected as rubbish and alerted police.
Md Raduan Ghani, a 41-year-old roll-on/roll-off lorry driver, was performing routine waste collection in Sungai Balak, Kajang, when he separated a heavy red plastic package from other debris. Unaware of its contents, he transported the bag back to his residence in Kampung Dato' Ahmad Razali, Sepang. Upon unpacking the items at home he realized they were mortar bombs and immediately informed a neighbour, who contacted the Dengkil police station.
Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said officers secured the area and a bomb disposal unit from Kuala Lumpur International Airport was dispatched. The three suspected explosives were taken to a safe location and are scheduled to be destroyed the following day.
