Drone breaches Moldovan airspace, crashes and explodes near Bender
A drone entered Moldova's airspace, flew over Bender and later crashed near Hîrbovăț, detonating on impact without causing injuries.
At around 05:40 on Wednesday, Moldova's integrated air-monitoring system flagged a drone that penetrated national airspace and hovered at low altitude above Bender. The aircraft proceeded eastward and ultimately crashed in the rural area of Hîrbovăț, Anenii Noi district, detonating upon impact. The Ministry of Defense confirmed that specialized teams from the Police and the National Army have been sent to the site to conduct forensic examinations.
Officials emphasized that no one was injured and urged the public to keep a safe distance from any fragments and to report suspicious material to emergency services. The Air Operations Service continues to monitor the skies in coordination with other agencies and external partners.
