Drone footage shows possible body on Shivagange hill as search for missing techie continues

Search teams have been combing Shivagange Hills for four days after 31-year-old cybersecurity specialist Advait Upadhyay vanished, and drones have captured an image that may be his body.

A multi-agency search effort involving about 100 personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, forest department and police has been underway for four days on Shivagange Hills, located in Nelamangala taluk of Bengaluru Rural district. The missing individual is 31-year-old cybersecurity professional Advait Upadhyay, an IIT alumnus who lives in Kadugodi. He set out on a solo hike on Friday, parked his rented motorcycle at the foothills and sent a selfie to his fiancée before his phone went offline.

Drones deployed by the teams later recorded an image that appears to show a body tangled in dense vegetation near the base of Shantala Drop, one of the hill’s most hazardous cliffs. Persistent rain, slick rocks and the difficult terrain have prevented rescuers from accessing the location to verify the sighting. Investigators are still piecing together his movements after CCTV captured him beginning his ascent around 7.30 am.
