Dropbox co-CEO adopts five-point quarterly focus system to filter meetings
Ashraf Alkarmi, Dropbox’s co-CEO, uses a quarterly list of five priority goals to decide which engagements merit his time.
Dropbox’s co-CEO Ashraf Alkarmi has instituted a simple productivity framework that centers on five strategic priorities per quarter. By communicating these goals to his team, chief of staff, and administrative support, he ensures everyone knows where his attention will be focused. The priorities, which span people, business performance and churn reduction, dictate how he allocates his weeks and which meetings he accepts.
Alkarmi relies on the project-management tool Trello to monitor advancement toward each aim. He notes that any invitation not tied to these objectives is typically declined. The method builds on his earlier executive experience at Vimeo and Meta, and he is slated to become the sole CEO after co-leading with founder Drew Houston since May.
Why it matters
The tactic shows how senior tech leaders can streamline focus and cut meeting overload, influencing productivity norms.
