Drunk driver crashes into Thessaloniki tavern, three people injured

A 45-year-old driver lost control and drove his car into a tavern in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, leaving three patrons hospitalized.

In the Evosmos district of Thessaloniki, a 45-year-old motorist lost control and drove his vehicle into an ouzo tavern on Venizelou Street, an event captured on video. Police testing later showed his blood-alcohol concentration was three times the legal limit. After the crash the driver briefly backed up and attempted to escape, leading several patrons to chase him in anger.

Emergency responders transported three customers to hospital: one man was discharged after doctors advised he remain immobilized, a woman suffered injuries to her ribs and head, and a third individual remains hospitalized on oxygen, appearing to be the most seriously injured. Minutes before the incident, a couple had observed the same car moving in reverse on the street. The episode highlights the dangers of drunk driving in densely populated urban areas.
