Drunk driver receives suspended sentence after near-fatal crash outside Birmingham pub

Birmingham Crown Court heard that Sharon Gall, 32, from Northfield, reversed her red Volkswagen Golf at speed outside the Cock Inn in Bartley Green after an altercation and hit another vehicle, which flipped over. The impact sent a nearby man sprawling onto the road, though he was not hurt. West Midlands Police arrested Gall, took her to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a breath test, and found her blood alcohol concentration at 171 mg per 100 ml, exceeding the legal limit of 80 mg.
Gall admitted dangerous driving and drink-driving. The court sentenced her to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years, imposed an 18-month driving ban, ordered 25 days of rehabilitation activity and a 90-day period of alcohol abstinence.
