Dublin imposes multiple road closures for EU finance ministers' summit
Several streets in Dublin city centre will be closed on Friday and Saturday as security escorts move EU finance ministers between venues for Ireland’s EU Council presidency events.
In preparation for a series of meetings linked to Ireland’s presidency of the European Council, Dublin has scheduled a series of traffic restrictions spanning Thursday to Saturday. Finance ministers from across the EU arrived today for formal and informal sessions at venues including Dublin Castle, the Herbert Park Hotel, the Clayton Hotel in Ballsbridge, the InterContinental Dublin, the Central Bank and the Guinness Storehouse.
Gardaí will enforce rolling road closures on Merrion Road, Mespil Road, Leeson Street, St Stephen’s Green, Kevin Street, Bride Street and surrounding streets during specific morning and midday periods to facilitate security escorts. Additional closures will affect the north quays and the south city centre at designated times, with the final set of closures on Saturday expected to end by 9:15 am. Certain streets such as Castle Street and both Ship Streets will remain closed to through traffic until the end of the year, though local access is still permitted.
