Dunai Vasmű workers left unpaid due to missing government decree

Union leader Zoltán Magyar reported that 200 workers at Dunai Vasmű have not been paid for August because the necessary government decree has not yet been published. The two insolvent subsidiaries, Dunarolling and Duna Furnace, were required to meet a statutory deadline for wage disbursement, which they missed. Both firms indicated that the decree, which should cover August payments, is slated to appear in the Magyar Közlöny later this week.

In the meantime, the workers, who have kept parts of the plant operational, remain unpaid. The union criticized the two-month delay in obtaining the decree, calling it unacceptable. Earlier coverage noted a previously planned mass layoff that was withdrawn after the liquidator of the power-supplying company intervened.
