Dungun police remand a part-time hafazan teacher over alleged sexual abuse of three former students
Dungun police have ordered a five-day remand for a 26-year-old part-time hafazan teacher accused of sexually assaulting three former madrasa pupils.
Police chief Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat said a magistrate approved a remand lasting from today until Thursday after the police applied to the Dungun Magistrate Court. The detention allows investigation under Sections 14(b) and 14(d) of the 2017 Sexual Offences Against Children Act. The suspect, a 26-year-old part-time hafazan instructor, was arrested at his home in Paka around 11 p.m. following three reports that identified the victims as former madrasa students in 2025.
