Durham crush Derbyshire by 338 runs as McKinney and Stokes dominate

Durham defeated Derbyshire by 338 runs in a Division Two County Championship match, propelled by Ben McKinney's 140 and Ben Stokes' all-round performance.

In a three-day Division Two encounter at Derby’s OurCoop County Ground, Durham amassed 283 in the first innings and declared on 295-6 after Ben McKinney struck 140 and Ben Stokes added an unbeaten 66. England paceman Matthew Potts claimed five wickets in Derbyshire’s first innings of 156, and later, alongside Stokes, who finished with figures of 5-17, reduced the hosts to 84 all out. The 338-run victory gave Durham 20 points, compared with Derbyshire’s three, and represents the largest run defeat in Derbyshire’s record.

McKinney’s aggressive century and Stokes’s dual contribution with bat and ball underscored Durham’s promotion ambitions. Potts’s haul also made him the leading wicket-taker in the championship at that stage.
