Dutch suspect Jan G. detained in Germany over cocaine shipment linked to French port

Dutch police reported that Jan G., a 28-year-old man from Overasselt, was apprehended on a parking lot beside the A44 near Soest, Germany, about two hours from his hometown. He is alleged to have participated in a cocaine transport that was intercepted in the French port city of Duinkerken, where the narcotics were concealed in a container of plastic waste originating from Ghana and destined for Antwerp. The authorities anticipate that Jan G. will be transferred to Dutch jurisdiction shortly.
The case is connected to a series of investigations, including a violent episode in Overasselt on 1 September that left a guard dead and two police officers injured, and a prior arrest in Dordrecht of another suspect linked to the same shipment. Law enforcement is also probing the role of a criminal figure known as ‘Bolle’ Jos Leijdekkers, who is alleged to have a dispute with Jan G. over cocaine theft, though his lawyers deny the claim.
