Dynamic Creatures launches cuddly robot companions built on Boston Dynamics' Spot
Former Boston Dynamics strategist Marc Theermann co-founded Dynamic Creatures, a spin-out creating cute, interactive robots like Danielle the poodle-styled pet and Hugo the troll, backed by several venture firms.
Marc Theermann, who previously led strategy at Boston Dynamics, launched Dynamic Creatures with AI specialist Farbod Farshidian to produce lovable robot companions. Their initial models, Danielle—a lavender-furred poodle—and Hugo—a whimsical troll, are built on the Spot quadruped chassis and feature expressive eyes, mouths and limbs designed for close human interaction. The startup has secured undisclosed capital from venture groups including Eniac Ventures, Kindred Ventures, BlueGrass Ventures, Heliad and Sunshine Lake.
The founders argue that the market is shifting from industrial robots toward personable machines that can perform at events, theme parks and retail spaces. By combining Boston Dynamics' locomotion expertise with the aesthetic of classic animatronics, they aim to bring licensed characters to life for IP owners. The venture reflects a broader surge in robotics funding, with $18.6 billion invested in the sector during Q2 2026, according to PitchBook data.
