Dyson unveils $500 CameraJet, a toothbrush that photographs and flosses teeth

Dyson announced the CameraJet, a premium electric toothbrush priced at $499 that merges brushing, flossing and rinsing functions. A 100k-pixel macro camera sits beneath the brush head and, together with 16 million lines of code and a machine-learning model trained on 470,000 dental photos, identifies inter-tooth gaps in real time. When a gap is detected, a cone-shaped water jet of up to 12.5 ml is released to floss while the user brushes.

The companion MyDyson app provides live video, personalized feedback and adjustable intensity or jetting modes, without storing images. The brush features dual-bristle heads, an anti-gravity pump that works upside down, and RFID-enabled heads that track usage. A three-second refill dock recharges the unit, and the package includes two standard heads, a travel case and optional low-foaming mouth rinse. The launch follows Dyson’s pattern of entering new consumer categories with high-tech, higher-priced offerings.
